How the methods differ

Sandblasting uses abrasive particles propelled at the surface. Laser cleaning uses controlled light energy to remove rust, paint, oxide, or residue. Because the laser can be tuned to the material and unwanted layer, it offers far more control on detailed parts, edges, welds, and valuable metal.

Consider the surface—not just the contamination

Aggressive abrasion can change a surface profile or remove sound metal. That can be useful when a rough profile is required, but it may be undesirable for restoration, precision components, marine hardware, or parts that must retain their dimensions.

Cleanup and access matter

Laser cleaning does not leave piles of spent blasting media. Mobile service can also reduce disassembly and transportation when the work area is safe and accessible. The best process still depends on surface area, coating thickness, desired finish, and project economics.
